Single Chart 2003

In theme with my albums of the year I was encouraged by my housemate Katherine to come up with a single chart of 2003. I did this at the same time but didn't get around to posting it until now. Here they are:

1) Electric Six - "Gaybar" This has to be the anthem of the year, I can't remember how many times I have heard this on in clubs as well as being pumped out of my speakers! Actually at the start of term I went to Snobs and during this song found myself getting smacked in the face in the mosh pit whilst breaking up a fight. Lets just say there was a little too much blood than I would have liked, yet that hasn't put me off this song - it must be truly brilliant!
2) The Darkness - "Get Your Hands Off My Woman" Absolutely fantastic, the theme of the Reading Festival. This band have to the best thing to hit rock music in the past decade, can't wait to here more. They got to number 1 in my album chart but nothing this year was going to move Gaybar as my favourite song.
3) Red Hot Chilli Peppers - "Can't Stop" What a tune, love the guitar and for once the lyrics make a little bit of sense :-)
4) Junior Senior - "Move Your Feet" Everybody! Defiantly one to dance to and the music video is great!
5) Coral - "Pass it on" A truly great song from their latest album chart (see album chart)
6) Evanescence - "Bring me to life" Amy Lee's vocals are spine chillingly good. Her voice is fantastic.
7) Alien Ant Farm - "These Days" Just one of the fantastic tracks of their latest album Tru(Ant). I saw this played at Reading at it was great. They have been through so much with the coach crash and yet they have bounced back better than before.
8) Linkin Park - "Somewhere I belong" I actually hadn't heard this until I saw them live at the Reading festival. I had only heard snippets of their album and was not inspired to listen to it until I heard this played live. Great song.
9) Good Charlotte - "Girls and Boys" This is one of those great songs that you will hear for years to come and in most peoples cases not remember the band. I saw them play at Reading and they were good, they got all the crowd to throw water bottles at them - now I'm glad I was not at the front! My sister also went to see them and she says that they were fantastic live. She saw them play at the Birmingham Academy which is a much smaller venue and so can appreciate the atmosphere more.
10) A - "Good time" I first heard this as the tune in the Nokia Advert promoting their latest MP3 playing phone but it quickly grew on me.
