Are the big boys scared!

I was looking at a friends site and came across a link to a "competitive guide" about Open Office produced by Microsoft. It is basically a comparison between Microsoft Office and Open Office.

Microsoft vs Open Office

See: http://members.microsoft.com/partner/salesmarketing/opensource/discguides/OpenOffice.pdf

I find it quite amusing that the worlds leading software company are that scared of open source that they have gone to this level, basically just slagging off open office. Personally I still use Word, but only out of habit. I do have open office installed and use it as often as I remember. There are many features I hate in Word and one of the main problems I find is its inability to deal with very large documents and its annoying little options that you have to turn off.

On this document Microsoft keep commenting on how Open Office is not compatible with various features of Microsoft Office and so that is a bad thing. Is it? Surely if you only use Open Office then it would not matter?

Even so I know where I am heading with my publishing needs and that is to LaTeX!
