I think this is what is used to bleach hair - guess the Martians like the blonde look! :-) Now to be serious, if I can ever do that, the reason I mentioned Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) is because astronomers have detected it on the Red (well maybe bleach blonde in parts) planet. This is important because it is the first time that a chemical catalyst of this sort has been found in a planetary atmosphere other than the Earth's. Catalyst are very important in the chemical cycles on the Earth and so means that theories about the Earth can be applied to Mars (and other bodies) with some sort of observational backing.
