The man behind the deadly cat experiment is apparently half head today, well this is the day he died 45 years ago. Essentially the term half dead has to be a pun on his cat experiment where if you put a cat in a closed box with a radiation source you never know if it is alive or dead... not till you open the box but at that point you have change the experiement by making the measurement. Thus you might have killed the cat and it was quite happy inside the box till you opened it. Little sick I agree but very effective in describing some interesting physics.
