Comet Tuttle is currently at its closest approach to the Earth in 14 years, this comet is a short period and is is the parent body of the Perseid meteor shower. It is easily observable (not for me, yet.. its cloudy again!) through binoculars and by the eye (but you need a nice dark site) - its about 6th magnitude. So if you fancy taking a look at a pretty comet then look towards Aries after sunset [map here]. There is a wonderful gallery of images up on the [spaceweather.com] site.
